It’s awesome to have goals and aspirations that inspire us. But one thing will guarantee to stop you in your tracks when it comes to making them happen – fear!
Fear means well – it’s here to protect us – but you don’t want to let it run the show or you may well miss out on an amazing opportunity, or sabotage yourself in the process or pursuing your goals.
In this week’s vlog I share how you can stop fear in its tracks and go for what you desire.
Every now and then I notice some resistance to sharing authentically and frequently online. For example, when I posted my recent blog on my first year of business on Linkedin, I was a little worried that my mention of anxiety and crying may have been ‘too much’, especially since it’s more serious than Facebook.
But I posted it anyway and got over 150 likes and 27 super encouraging comments from old colleagues, clients and people I have never met (along with stacks of sign ups to my email list). People love it when you speak from the heart. Good thing I got out of my own way!

Another thing that has been really helpful for me is EFT / tapping with my coach. This is why I am doing my practitioner training in 3 weeks – I’m super excited to start sharing this amazing technique with my clients.
Usually the fears are that part of you that wants me to stay small and safe so you can use these techniques to so say thanks dear and go shine anyway!
This week I am covering the mindset piece – keep a look out for my upcoming blog where I’ll share some of the practicalities of being visible, including how to manage it when you are still in a job.
Confidence. Everyone knows it’s a key factor of success and wants to feel confident in what they do. But what can you do if you don’t feel confident? Can you really fake it till you make it? In this week’s blog I share my confidence tips so you can speak like Winston Churchill and take on the world.
When I quit my job to become a coach entrepreneur, one of my associates said to me, “I wish I had your confidence.” This comment surprised me. While I was confident in some respects – I didn’t feel that confident, at least not all the time. A few nights I didn’t sleep. I was worrying that I could have made a horrible mistake: ‘What if I fail?’ ‘What if I regret my decision?’
Alba Gomez was working as an engineer for 14 years until she had a moment of clarity and realised it was time to quit her job to pursue her passion. Read how she made her transition out of corporate and her success and branding tips for aspiring women entrepreneurs.
LT: What were you doing before you started your own business?
AG: I worked as an engineer for 14 years. Even from the beginning I realised it wasn’t my passion but I stuck to it because I was in a country (Colombia) where you go to university and go to work and that’s it. I had two sisters who were engineers as well and I did what I was supposed to. I changed jobs two times; I had good salaries and positions. It had a good side to it.
When I moved to Australia I realised the mentality is different, people were more open-minded and I saw people doing what they wanted to do. I saw people taking risks and women owning businesses and I got inspired and thought maybe I could do what I am passionate about.
LT: What process did you go through to quit your job? (more…)
Find out how I overcame my fear of riding a scooter with the help of a great coach, and the learnings that help you experience the magic on the other side of fear.
People often tell me how courageous I am. I suppose it’s because I do things that a small percentage of the population does, like making the leap into entrepreneurship, moving countries and getting up in front of groups.
But of course that doesn’t mean that I don’t have fear and I’m not your big risk-taking type. There are lots of die-hard, bold entrepreneurs out there who love adventure sports and how they are in their business is an extension of that. Then there are scaredy cats like me who talk themselves out of taking risks until one day something clicks and they go for it.
